It is that season again, when outdoor times sound great. We’ve been limping along with some furniture that we are now ready to let go. Maybe these pieces are interesting to you?
Let’s see:
- Table is free.
- Chairs and loveseat are $50
First up, a homemade table.
This monstrosity (29″ high, 35″ wide, and a whopping 99″ long) seats 10. It is made from 2x4s, which explains its odd dimensions. BUT these are not pressure-treated 2x4s, so we have to stain it every season. It is heavy as all get out too, so wrangling it down to get it sanded and stained is no longer interesting. The stain on the legs, sides, and underside of the table are in good shape (no punkiness or rot), and the top has no rot but desperately needs a sanding and staining. (We were using marine-grade stain/sealant and leaving the table outdoors 24/7/365). This is free, but you have to take it from our home to yours.
The table (and our newly graveled car-port):

Next up is a 1930s era set of wrought-iron chairs and a loveseat. These are in very good shape, the paint job that my amazing wife did held up to three years outside brilliantly. Not a speck of rust.
This chair is 34″ high in the back and has a square seat that is 22″ by 22″. The one thing to note is that in the 30s people liked sitting lower to the ground, so that seat is only 10″ off the ground. Might be a bit low for some folks with leg or back issues.

Here’s the loveseat. It’s 34″ high, 22″ deep and 66″ long — a triple of the chairs. (Of course, you say. This is three welded seats of the same dimensions as the chairs; 30s designers knew how to keep it simple.) In the photo below, you can see that there are 2 “lumpy bits” on the back where we have used black outdoor duct tape to secure the iron. That is the TLC portion – a simple weld could solve that problem as the original weld gave way before we got them. That said, three years of our family using them and the duct tape never gave way, so take that as you will.

And here’s the third chair with the big reveal – TADA! – there are cushions for all three pieces of furniture (one upper and one lower for each chair, three uppers and three lowers for the couch). These cushions are very comfy, but also dirty.
Our cats LOVE these cushions so they are covered in cat fur and while the manufacturer swore all over their website that these were stain-resistant, they are clearly stained now (the same on all five lower cushions, right near the back where cats would create depressions that caught water).

First come, first served.
Buyer must pick them up from our house. (We live in 12094, about 35 minutes NE of HVCC.).
If you made it this far, here’s the pitch
- Want just the table? First come, first served, bring a pickup or a trailer. IT’S BIG!
- The two chairs and loveseat plus the cushions – $50 total. Could fit in minivan, but it would be tight with the cushions.
- Want the chairs/loveseat but not the cushions, I’ll put you on the waitlist. (We were going to throw away the cushions, but we’d prefer someone take them with the loveseat/chairs.
